First set of variations from Christopher Rouse's first string quartet. Possibly one of the most violent chamber pieces ever written, or I have ever encountered. The entire quartet is inspired on Bartok's string quartets, featuring the use of unusual, yet logically mathematical tome signatures. The sets of variations in the 1st, 3rd, and 5th movements all consist of 3 variations, each split up into 2 segments. The first segment is an exposition of repeated notes or chords in a steady rhythm later variating into more "dance-like" rhythms. The second segment of each variation is an orgiastic explosion of microrhythms each more complicated than the last. This track is the first set of them.
