Hello, I'm the first poster in HamieNet. I want to ask if somebody has another solution for using a synthesizer other than Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth?
I'm bored with that sound. Please give me at least one link is enough.

Hi davidhs,

well, I can recommend you the following standalone GM synths for Windows:

<b>Yamaha SoftSynth S-YXG50</b> (http://www.yamaha.co.jp/product/syndtm/p/soft/syxg50/index.html)

<b>Roland Sound Canvas</b> (http://www.pgmusic.com/rolandvs.htm)

<b>Hiroki Nakayama's WinGroove</b> (http://www.cc.rim.or.jp/~hiroki/english/)

<b>NI Bandstand</b> (http://www.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=bandstand_us)

They are not freeware, but the first three have trial versions and aren't expensive. Try them out!
