I Saw the Cross of Jesus
(words by Frederick Whitfield 1861... revised by rgraceful 2004)
(8 bar intro)
I saw the cross of Jesus, when burdened by my sin;
I sought the cross of Jesus, to bring me peace within;
I brought my soul to Jesus, He cleansed it in His blood;
And with the cross of Jesus I've made my peace with God.
I love the cross of Jesus, it's made me who I am—
A sinner saved from darkess , saved only by the Lamb;
No righteousness is worthy, no beauty can I plead;
Yet in the cross of Jesus, a crown have I recieved
I trust the cross of Jesus, in every single hour,
My sure and certain refuge, my everlasting tower;
In every fear and conflict,He is the great I am;
I'm living proof that Jesus is Christ an God in man
Safe is the cross of Jesus there I have found my heart
There in His love unshaken, I never will depart;
And then in songs of glory I’ll sing His wondrous praise
There in the arms of Jesus forever I will stay
(Ending)
There in the arms of Jesus forever I will stay
