Side of the Freeway (Official Title) Guitar Tablature
Artist: System of a Down
Song: Side of the Freeway (Official Title)
Tabber: Adam Muirhead (madaemanon@yahoo.com)

This song is from the Toxicity sessions. It may or may
not be on the next album (which will be "Steal this album".
The song's OFFICIAL title is "Side of the Freeway" as of
this tab being written (Oct 2002).
The title may change for the next album, I don't know.

There are already tabs for this song, but I don't feel
they are done well enough, so I tabbed the song myself
to the best of my abilities and hopefully you'll find
it sounds right.

Drop C Tuning (CGCFAd)

Intro:
d------------------------------|
A------------------------------|
F------------------------------|
C------------------------------|
G---87-75-5--5-6-5--3-3-5-5--|
C-0----------------------------|

There's another part that gets played over top.
This is how I think it goes:
d--------------------|
A--------------------|
F-11-12*-15*-17*-14*-|
C--------------------|
G-9--10*-13*-15*-12*-|
C--------------------|
You may have to strum each of these a few times.
Except the first one, which I'm sure is only strummed once.

The heavy part:

There are two ways to play it
Here's #1
d----------------------------|
A----------------------------|
F----------------------------|
C-0-7-3-0-8-7-8--0-7-3-0-8-7-|
G-0-7-3-0-8-7-8--0-7-3-0-8-7-|
C-0-7-3-0-8-7-8--0-7-3-0-8-7-| X2

Which can also be played(probably easier):
d----------------------------|
A----------------------------|
F---2--------------2---------|
C-0-2-3-0-8-7-8--0-2-3-0-8-7-|
G-0-0-3-0-8-7-8--0-0-3-0-8-7-|
C-0---3-0-8-7-8--0---3-0-8-7-| X2

Then whichever works for you, the next part
is the same riff, palm muted.

Then open again, then palm muted again.

The intro riff is later played with higher notes.
Here's how I think it goes:
d-12-11-9--9-10-9--7-7-9-9-99-|
A-----------------------------|
F-----------------------------|

Then you play the heavy riff again, but a bit
faster than before.

The next part should just be open palm mutes.

Then:
C-5-5-5-3--0-0-0-0-7-|
G-5-5-5-3--0-0-0-0-7-|
C-5-5-5-3--0-0-0-0-7-|
"Put your hands up, get out of the car!"

The next riff I'm not totally sure about.
It sounds like a variation on the chorus riff.

Great song, I think this tab is pretty accurate.
The main guitar riff (the chorus) is used many times
so if you cna play that... you can improvise the rest.
Enjoy!
